How can you help protect the hunting and game bird industry?

“United we stand, divided we fall!”  Standing together has become more important than ever for those who are involved in animal use, or in hunting and shooting pursuits.  The groups who oppose our way of life are well funded and passionate in their commitment to stop farming and the use of animals.

Did you know there is a non-profit group designed to foster, protect and promote the game bird and hunting industry?  That trade association is the North American Gamebird Association (NAGA).

For over 72-years NAGA has been working for game bird producers and hunting preserves protecting your interests.  To effectively protect the game bird industry on both a state and national level NAGA needs member support.  When dealing with the government at any level the more people or businesses a group represents the more effective they are legislatively.  If you are not a member of the North American Gamebird Association you are strongly urged to consider taking this step to defend and support your interests.

Mark Klippert, Past President, NAGA, stated, “The list of issues facing our industry grows each year.  The only way we can survive is if our membership and support also grows each year.  Numbers count in the legislative process, so please help us keep your business opportunities and freedoms secure for tomorrow.”

*   NAGA employs the services of a lobbyist in Washington, D.C. to monitor the activities of Congress.  He notifies NAGA of any proposed legislation that would adversely affect this industry.  He also advises NAGA on strategy to fight proposed "anti" legislation and notifies the officers when member/constituent involvement (phone calls to Senators and/or Representatives) is essential.

*   NAGA fought proposed Federal Regulations that sought to ban the release of all captive-reared Mallards.

*   NAGA is adopting a proactive advocacy program designed to combat the rapidly growing animal rights’/anti hunting movement.  NAGA’s recent  economic impact survey is part of this proactive stance.

*   NAGA is assisting the “National Shooting Sports Foundation” in a cooperative effort, to create a report entitled “The Shooting Sports Community’s Strategic Plan for the Environmental Management of Shooting Facilities”.

*   NAGA is also monitoring and addressing the “Raptor predation” problems that plague our members.

*   NAGA resolved the shipping of live animals via airlines and the Postal Service.  NAGA, in conjunction with the Bird Shippers of America, worked to achieve favorable results for our industry.

*   NAGA continues to work with the “Minor Use Minor Species” (MUMS) Coalition, providing monitoring and input, trying to get medications approved by the FDA for our industry.

*   NAGA’s annual convention affords members the opportunity to attend quality, informational seminars and workshops presented by industry professionals.  The convention also gives members the opportunity to meet and converse with other game bird producers and hunting service professionals from all over the country.  The luxury of one-on-one, face-to-face discussion of issues, problems and industry concerns is invaluable.  The convention also allows members to meet with suppliers and take advantage of special discounted convention pricing.

To paraphrase Eldridge Cleaver, if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.  The only solution this industry has is NAGA.  Do your part to help protect the future of the hunting and game bird industry.  Please join - TODAY!  Click on the  "NAGA Application"  above to obtain a  printable NAGA membership application.
